If you have already completed your Introduction to K9 Nose Work® and are ready to do more, well this course is just what you need.
K9 Odour is open to all those that have already completed their K9 Nose Work® course with an accredited or Associate Nose Work instructor. It is also open to those that may have started K9 Odour but could not complete it.
Handlers and dogs must have practised for at least 6 weeks after they completed K9 Nose Work® before enrolling into Odour.
How is this course different? Well we start to transition your dog from hunting for food, to hunting for a target odour such as birch, anise and clove. Experience searching interior and exterior areas, containers and vehicles using the proper techniques to help your dog take charge of the game.
Once dogs have successfully completed their K9 Odour course, they may then be introduced to the more competitive sport of sniffing so this natural past time of your dog can actually go quite far! If you are interested in competitive sniffing, please speak to Angela during your course.
In K9 Nose Work®, very little skill other than sniffing was required. As we head into the more advanced level, there is criteria that must be reached before considering K9 Odour. Below are the benchmarks required.
